Self-regulation is the ability to focus thoughts, control behaviors, and manage emotions. If you want your child to develop self-regulation, you must develop your own.

Dysregulation is an emotional response that is poorly controlled. Parents who are emotionally out of control will have children who are too. You are emotionally dysregulated when you respond to situations in an exaggerated manner.

The good news? This is a learned skill. Just as you can learn poor self-regulation, you can learn healthier ways to care for yourself, interact with your children, and ultimately teach them how to regulate themselves. We can help!

Insurance…

A New Day Pediatric Psychology offers the following options to pay for your services:

  • Cash pay (parent coaching, therapy): Dr. Lockhart, Kimberly, Mrs. Melvia, Brogan, Deanna, Alexa

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield* (therapy): Dr. Lockhart is currently accepting a limited number of therapy clients ages 15 and older covered by BCBS

  • If your insurance provider is not listed and you are located in the state of Texas, you may still qualify for behavioral health services with your insurance provider. Simply contact your insurance provider to determine whether you need pre-authorization for therapy.

If you are seeking services and we do not take your insurance plan, we are happy to provide you with a SuperBill through our Client Portal system for you to submit to your insurance provider for partial or full reimbursement (this cannot be provided for clients seen by Kimberly, Deanna, or Alexa).

If your insurance decides not to pay for services received, it is your responsibility to cover the remaining balance. Please check your coverage by calling your insurance provider directly.

If you live outside of the state of Texas, we are unable to provide therapy services. We are able to offer parent coaching and life coaching services.

*Blue Cross/Blue Shield: Please note although you may have BCBS for your insurance, you may be covered under a different plan for mental health services (i.e., Optum, Magellan, etc). We do not accept these plans. You will pay out of pocket if you are on one of these plans.

Why we are committed to helping you thrive?

Because parenting is hard work. They say, “there’s no book on parenting.” Not true! There are tons of books on parenting. The thing is how do you know which ones to read, which ones to follow, which one will work for your specific child? Then you have the issue of techniques and strategies that work with one child, but not with the other. What then?

Our team is comprised of moms who get it. We are trained and educated to work with children and parents, but we are not perfect parents and have challenges with our kids. There is no perfect parenting. This is why we are committed to helping you thrive as a parent. There is no need to shame ourselves, go on a guilt trip, or feel judged. We’ve got your back and we’re on this journey with you too.
